August 3, 2026: BPCL in partnership with the Indian Army, has launched a specialised Extreme Weather Grade (XWG) diesel. It can be used in vehicles operating in places where the temperatures are as low as minus 42 degrees Celsius. For the army, the new fuel will significantly improve operational readiness and reliability of military vehicles deployed in high-altitude regions along India’s northern borders.

The newly introduced Extreme Weather Grade (XWG) diesel is a specially formulated fuel that remains fluid even in extremely low temperatures. Unlike conventional diesel, which tends to thicken and freeze in sub-zero conditions, XWG diesel ensures smooth engine performance even in harsh winter.

A key advantage of this fuel is that it can be used in the Army’s existing fleet without requiring any significant engine modifications. This makes its adoption easier and faster across a wide range of military vehicles and equipment.
