October 1, 2026: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) reported a fire at its refinery following a rupture of the Cold Separator operating at high pressure in the Coker Hydrotreater Unit around noon on Wednesday.

MRPL said the battery limits of the affected unit were immediately isolated, while its emergency response and firefighting teams were deployed to control the incident. The fire has since been brought under control, although firefighting operations may continue for some time as part of the safe handling of the situation
